The She Cranes victory at the African Netball Championships in Kampala in June elevated Uganda to 9th in the world rankings. This earned the girls automatic qualification into the 2018 Commonwealth Games alongside the 11 best ranked teams in the world as of July 1st.
After the draws, VicentKiwanuka’s girls were placed in POOL B arguably the toughest alongside second and third ranked New Zealand and England respectively. Wales, Scotland and Continental rivals Malawi completed the lineup. POOL A Hosts top ranked team Australia, Jamaica, South Africa, Barbados, Fiji and Northern Ireland.
The group phases Netball competition will run from April 5th to 12th 2018 with finals set to be played on April 14th to 15th 2018 at the coomera Indoor Sports Center.
