A jovial mood engulfed Entebbe Airport as World Para Athletics Championship Gold winner David Emong touched down from London. The fifteen hundred meters champion was received at Entebbe Airport by his family, friends and members of the National Council of Sports. “We are again witnessing somebody who has excelled in sports. Why; the more you put a lot of efforts in the training. He put a lot of effort in the training and he has done it. So I wish other athletes could emulate his example and Uganda is endowed, am very sure we shall get more medals.” Said, Andrew Soroweni – Board Member, NCS.

Emong who vowed to get Gold before he left for the games attributed his triumph to his hard training he went through in the Kapchorwa highlands. “Just when I was leaving Kapchorwa, I said with all this speed I did here in Kapchorwa it will help me bring home this Gold medal. And this is not only my dream, my dream is still very ahead so this is only one step ahead.” Said, David Emong – World Para Athletics Gold Winner. He said that his ability to read situations also came in handy. “Any stage he reached I put mine, any step he moved I put mine. It reached 150 meters where I came and stepped in and I said this is the time for the Uganda to receive the Gold medal.” Said, David Emong.
Emong was driven in along convoy back to Kampala as he headed to the State Lodge in Nakaseero to meet the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni.
