Thirty players each were nominated for the top two most categories with Winner to be decided by votes from the Head Coaches and the Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF, members of the CAF Technical and Development Committee and a panel of Media Experts. Dennis Onyango could have a second bite of the cherry returning to both the lists of the African Player of the Year and the African Player Best in Africa as the current holder where his counterpart and teammate Geoffrey Serunkuma was listed on his maiden appearances. On the look will be the difference whether he will dethrone his captain or his status-quo will remain unchanged.
Onyango claimed the prize of Best Player of the Year based in Africa beating his Club mate Kamba Biriat and Tipi Mazende’s Rainford Kalaba and was named the first choice Goalkeeper on the CAF select team of the year while his Club Mamerone Sun Downs won the Club of the year. Then Uganda Cranes was named National Team of the Year. The Glamourous ceremony will be held on 4th January 2018 in Accra Ghana.
