The suspension which took immediate effect read the communication from Uganda Football League Secretariat sent to all stakeholders. The suspension followed a Disciplinary Committee sitting that found the fans in question guilty of causing last week’s mayhem.
The Statement read Makerere fans attacked and provoked Busitema University fans prior to the kickoff game between both teams. The suspension affects their participation in the knockout stage on this year’s competition where they had qualified at top Group A. Makerere had to date Gulu University in Friday’s Quarter Final that is now void. The institution will not take part in the remainder of the season and the whole of next season continues the statement of the League Disciplinary Commission that comprises Bainamani Bernard, Katabira Davis, and Haruna Kebba.
However, the institution could appeal the decision in the next 48 hours as per Completion Rules. Makerere University fans had a history of violence in the League that prompted a series of cautions from the League.
