At the 7th Outing of the Corporate League at Namboole, different companies tussled it out with bragging rights and victory. With sports like football, netball and wood ball played, Stanbic bank took the standings of football ahead of Coca-cola and Sipula. Last year’s champions Hotel Africana however, still led the overall standings ahead of Coca-cola and Sipula with just two outings left on the Corporate League calendar. Founding member Dennis Mbidde praised how far the Corporate League has come in fulfilling their overall mission. “People wake up in the morning, are always in their offices, they do not run around, are in their cars, and are seated at their desks the whole day. So our intentions were to curb one; we want people to come together to network, two; to do sport, three; to keep healthy. And I think 15 years down the road, me as the founding Chairman, the first Chairman of the Corporate League, 80% of what we set out has really been achieved.” Said, Dennis Mbidde – Former Chairman, Corporate League.
With the Corporate Run set for the 22nd October 2017 under the theme: RUN FOR EXPECTANT MOTHERS to mark 15 years of the Corporate League, Richard Okot the League Chairman explained why the score was important. “Because the initiative is basically to support expectant mothers in this country. It is very clear that 19 mothers die every day due to pregnancy complications. So as Corporates we say that this is going to be an annual event and more so the Corporate Run on 22nd October. The tickets are already on sale, people are already buying the tickets, they are excited, and they say we shall support our mothers.” Said, Richard Okot – Chairman, Corporate League. A total of 46 companies took part in this year’s edition of the Corporate League.
