It is months to the 7th edition of the Inter-University games, the organizers made significant progress but they were not about to rest of their roles. during the Stakeholders’ meeting with some of the members of the local organizing committee Paul Mark Kayongo the Head of the Finance Team intimated that it would cost them close to 2 billion Uganda shillings to have a successful event. Luckily Ndejje University had injected in most of it but more was still needed. “Ndejje being a private University of course that is over stretching but having the past exposure because we are not hosting these games for the first time, this is a 3rd edition but we have also hosted similar events at that level. We think that given the partnership and the great friends of Ndejje, we will be able to realize this money.” Said, Paul Mark Kayongo – Member Organizing Committee.
At the institution premises in Luwero, they were in final touches on the stadium, swimming pool and dormitories where over the 3,000 students and officials were to reside for the week-long event. Ndejje University Vice Chancellor Prof. Eriab Lugujjo said that his institution was a known sports haven and thus hosting the prestigious games for the 3rd time was an honor regardless of the financial bite. “The 7th session is coming in at a time when we are celebrating our Silver Jubilee; 25 years of Existence and of Excellency in sports. Therefore, the hooding of these games is a major activity that will climax the celebrations of the Silver Jubilee.” Said, Prof. Eriab Lugujjo – Vice Chancellor, Ndejje University. Over 20 universities had confirmed participation in the games that would see participants face off in football, bold games like chess, basketball, track and field games among others.
