Rwanda Elections: Kagame Pushes Ahead Towards An Inevitable Win

Everyone seemed to have called in the Rwandan Election in favor of RPF’s Paul Kagame except the man himself. In many small provinces, large billboards asking voters to choose him were erected. Cars carried his slogan and houses had manifestos of his plan laid out on them in posters. At this rally in Ngoma, RPF supporters were in an early jovial mood dancing and chanting Kagame’s name. He was speaking at ngoma and called on Rwandans to choose the Rwanda they would love to live in.

Some of his crowds included young voters who wereto vote for their first time. jira Dugukunda Elsa a reigning Miss Rwanda said she chose to vote for a candidate that restored the dignity of women. “He’s the one who gave back values to ladies, am talking about this because I am a lady and I know how we Rwandan ladies used to live back then so it’s a great honor for us as girls to stand in front of people and talk and give our opinions, and become Miss Rwanda like me.” Said the reigning Miss Rwanda. Kagame’s opponents in Mpayemana and Habineza were also on the trail in various parts of the country.

The Electoral Commission said the polling materials were ready and they were prepared to hold elections. “By this time, everything is ready and we are just waiting for the day. As you have heard we have already announced our National Voters’ Register which we have done that 6,897,076 people who will be casting the vote.” They also promised a free and fair election. “We pledge to play our part as the Electoral Commission, to abide by the law, to be as partial as possible as we have always done and we promise to deliver a free and fair electoral process.”
