As he waited for Parliament to convene, the MP-elect sat in the canteen. The Speaker of the Parliament Rebecca Kadaga chaired the afternoon session where Kyagulanyi took an oath. “I Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert, swear in the name of Almighty God, that I will give faithful service to this Parliament, and support and uphold the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda by law established, so help me God.” After the ceremony, legislators scrambled to show the new MP where to sit. Kyagulanyi received the instruments of office before the Speaker showed him his seat. “...which you should study it will guide you, the rules of procedure, master them, they will help you preliminary and in the Committee. Now am your whip, I will assign you one standing Committee and one Sessional Committee. So I ask members to take you where the Independents seat in that corner you’re welcome.” Said the Speaker of the Parliament. He responded to questions about his immediate task as a new legislator. “I have come to Parliament at a very sensitive time, a time when there’s a pending Bill to lift the age limit for the Presidency. I have just taken an oath to defend, preserve and protect the Constitution of the Republic Of Uganda and that is going to be my major goal right now.” Said, Robert Kyagulanyi, MP Kyadondo East. Earlier as the musician was driven to the Parliament, he was escorted by hoods of his supporters who followed him from his home in Magere Wakiso district.
