The Court of Appeal in Kampala retained Mityana South Member of Parliament Henry Makumbi after it found out that all the accusations that were labeled against him were baseless. Lumu filed an election petition against Makumbi accusing him of not being a registered voter, rigged votes and also intimidated. Deputy Registrar Denis Nzeyimana ruled that whether Kamya had committed electoral offenses, there was no none compliance with electoral reforms.
“I want to thank the Courts for reinstating his victory because all the allegations have been dismissed. They said there was rigging, the Court of Appeal has said there was none. And that’s the same thing which the High Court also said. So now, I call upon the people to settle, the MP should be left to go on and do his work as a Member of Parliament because the Courts have spoken, we entirely agree on the decisions of the Courts.” Said, Joseph Luzige – Defence Lawyer. The Court also ordered Lumu to pay Makumbi the cost of the suit.
