Robert Kyagulanyi returned at the Entebbe International Airport from America where he received a heroic welcome. However, celebrations took a nasty turn. The Kyadondo East MP and a Musician was roughed up by the Police but his supporters overpowered them. The Police withdrew after realizing the crowd was turning rowdy and waited to grab him on his way to Kampala. “Whether you are in Kampala, Mbarara or Gulu and wherever you are, do not be scared. This is our time, everyone you see here is a youth including the Police they are our fellow youths.” Said the Kyadondo East MP.
“Listen, why do we need to lift him? If he knows that he is under the law, let him get down.” The Police were accusing the MP of inciting the public in an audio recording against lifting the age limit before he traveled to the US. “Hon. Kyagulanyi made statements before he went out of the country and we want to question him over those statements; abusing the head of state, abusing everyone. We want to interview him and then we release him to go.”
Upon persuasion, Kyagulanyi agreed to record a statement at a Police station. “I want him here at the Aviation Police, this is where I want him.” He was later detained.
