Security Agencies Not Doing Enough - President Museveni

According to President Yoweri Museveni, security agencies have not done enough to arm-wrestle the kidnap for ransom that often ends up in murder. The adoption of CCTV cameras is another way to beef efforts into neutralizing the criminal gangs. “We are in a struggle to work and improve on what we see and hear in terms of intelligence in towns and major highways. In the villages the situation is okay; whereby there is a village intelligence that helps us see and hear. But here in towns where there are more people and buildings, needs more sophisticated intelligence. So I want to assure you this problem of urban crime will be defeated.” Said, Yoweri Museveni – President of Uganda.

The surge and crime could also be connected to the letdown job opportunities. “I, therefore, request all leaders in the central government and the districts; the issue of helping those people in town to find jobs should be given priority by all of us.” Said, Yoweri Museveni – President of Uganda. Local terrorism inspired by criminals who kidnap for ransom have dominated the news over the last few months. And according to president Museveni, this is a weakness within the security and intelligence services for failing to infiltrate these criminal gangs. “Researching and spying on those criminal gangs to know where they exist and all the plans because they are well known.”

Museveni was officiating at a thanksgiving ceremony of Kampala Minister Betty Kamya and also the fundraising ceremony of the construction of St. Makai Church. The church that needs over 3 billion shillings has so far raised over 1 billion. Museveni contributed 1 billion shillings towards the construction. Kampala Minister Betty Kamya the organizer used the moment to narrate her current political intimacy with Museveni. “At one point when I expressed interest to be a Secretary General of a party, I was denied chance and moved forward. When Dr. Kiggundu retired, I then expressed interest in being the Chairperson of the party but still again I was denied the chance. The person I had wished to challenge instead brings me closer to him, what would you do if it were you?” The function was attended by politicians, religious leaders and members of the public from all walks of like.
