The bold directive followed complaints from officials from Mpigi district that despite the government's intervention, the district continued to record significant malaria cases yet survival options were continuously abused. “There are nets that you use on nursery beds of tomatoes and cabbages, I have seen those nets in several places…” the country continues to spend a tune of over 500 billion shillings treating persons with malaria yet the burden to the household is 30,000 shillings per session. “It’s terrible for you to misuse these nets and I want to appeal to the RDC and the entire security team and everybody here; whoever misuses a mosquito net, arrest without favor, arrest without excuse because that is a taxpayer’s’ money from elsewhere.” Data from the World Health Organization read Uganda's position at 14 among malaria contributing countries in Sub Saharan Africa with over 194 million new cases recorded annually. To reverse the space, the malaria control program called for investment in innovation to offer the country solutions to fight the worrying statistics.
