Minister Namuganza Fights Back In a Row With Kadaga, Dismisses Busoga Caucus

The decision by the Busoga Caucus to expel Persis Namuganza has done nothing to silence the Bukono County MP who is also the State Minister for Lands. Namuganza had been summoned by the Caucus to answer to a number of charges which had evolved around her apparent disrespect for other leaders from the Busoga sub-region including William Gabula Nadyope IV the Kyabazinga of Busoga. She failed to appear and she was subsequently expelled. “That Hon. Persis Namuganza is dismissed from forthwith from Busoga Parliamentary as a member and she is indeed hereby dismissed as such.” Said, Gaster Mugoya – MP, Bukooli North.

While addressing journalists on Saturday, Namuganza dismissed the Caucus decision arguing that since she had never asked to be a member expulsion was null and void. “I am supposed to inform the public that I have never been a member of Busoga Parliamentary Caucus because there are procedures for somebody to associate with a group or law to associate it’s not automatic.” Said, Persis Namuganza – Minister of State for Lands. Namuganza also did not hold back on her criticism of Speaker Rebecca Kadaga whom she accused of having done little for the people of Busoga in all the years she had been Speaker and Woman MP for Kamuli. “We have the Rt. Hon. Second Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Kirunda Kiveijinja trying to work and another to sabotage wars. So we can’t blame the President the problem is onto us. Now, what am I saying, that for me am coming with revolutionary politics to speak not only for the people of Bukono but for the entire Busoga on what we ought to do so that we clean our name so that we are not looked at as a region of jiggers." Said, Persis Namuganza – Minister of State for Lands.

Namuganza also retaliated her position to William Gabula Nadyope who she said was not the rightful Kyabazinga of Busoga. “…recognizing the Kyabazinga, me I respect the rule of law I have said these matters are still in Court. If Court rules that he is supposed to be there as the Kyabazinga I will respect the rule of law.” Namuganza had previously rallied her supporters in Bukono to chase away the Kyabazinga if he ever visited the area in her absence.
