Police Rearrests ‘Bijambiya’ Leader

Police told NBS that Musa Galiwango was shot in the legs and shoulders as he tried to resist arrest in the wee hours of Tuesday. The Police’s Flying Squad under the command of Ronald Bbalya trailed Galiwango to his girlfriend’s house in Kigalama village, Nyabihoko Sub County in Kajjera Ntungamo district. Galiwango had previously worked in the same village as a herdsman and was known to the residents as a Muganda. “He has been trailed for a while for the last five days and he was got in Rwashamere in Ntungamo where he was hiding at a friend’s place. And because he refused to listen to orders given to him by officers, he decided to run and so they opened fire on him and of course he was injured.” Said, Samson Kasasira – Police Spokesperson, Rwizi.

Rwizi region Police’s spokesperson Samson Kasasira told NBS that Galiwango was found with an empty star pistol. He says Police traced him based on a mobile phone number which he used to steal from a mobile money agent in Kiboga district shortly after escaping from Court with a colleague Mohammed Kiddawalime. “There were bullets got in his legs, arms, basically almost every part of his body was affected by those bullets.” Kiddawalime was earlier this month killed by a mob in Kalungi a field robbery. Byamugisha Frank the South Western region Prisons Commander said Galiwango was on treatment and after he would have to face the law. “He has been brought, he is undergoing treatment and we are waiting for what the medical people will tell us.” Said, Byamugisha Frank – Prisons Commander, South Western. The bijambiya is known for terrorizing residents of greater Masaka over the past three years creating fear in the population.
