The scale of workplace inequality is still faced by many people with both men and women facing some form of discrimination at their workplaces. For those who are in formal and informal employment their experience is different. Many cited various forms of disparities at workplaces which they think make them unproductive. Some of the people we talked to accused the employers of considering age, sex, religion, and genders leaving out those that are capable and experienced. "For example, when you consider age you find that you have stopped a young growing person to take up a certain job because you think that the age matters a lot. But the person may be having very good skills, very good ideas even beyond that one who has 45 years." "It's not about gender. For example, in the type of work we do or the nature of work for instance in Umeme you find that the available jobs one can do are the jobs to climb up the electricity poles whereby ladies may not be given those opportunities to do those kinds of jobs yet they would be willing to do it."
The findings from the members of the public showed that these issues had left them demotivated and unable to fully enjoy what they do. “You find that you have covered a lot of stuff and again at the end of the month what you are earning is not what you worked for. So that really demoralizes you and you be like, then okay you will be stressed out.” “I have also noticed that there are so many bosses who have been taken up by way; it’s like a corrupt way whereby they recruit people not because they are competent but because maybe they are their girlfriends.” They, however, call upon employers to practice unity, something that will make work more enjoyable.
