Supporters of Ruhinda County MP, Dononzio Kahonda converged at Jinja High Court for the hearing of his bail application. “We want justice today.” The big numbers prompted more Police deployment and body checks at the Court. Members of Parliament were there to stand surety for their colleague. However, Justice Eva Luswata said she could not hear the MP’s bail application as the Prosecutors were on strike and not present in the Court and pushed it to 24th July. “They should be paid, there is no reason why the government shouldn’t pay them. They do a great job but at the same time, their actions should not in any way disfavor you know litigants and applicants like the case of our client Hon. Kahonda.” Said Asuman Basalirwa, Kahonda’s Lawyer. “We are appealing to the Justice systems, we are appealing to the Chief Justice, and we are appealing to whoever is concerned to ensure that Honorable Dononzio Kahonda gets justice.” Said Jova Kamateka, Woman MP Mitooma district. “The government cannot be comfortable when the whole arm of the government is not operating.” Kahonda’s supporters were disappointed with the proceedings. Others did not allow this to dampen their support.
