Last week, General Elly Tumwine was successfully vetted as Security Minister by Parliament alongside the new Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola and Deputy IGP Brigadier Sabiti Muzei. President Yoweri Museveni officiated the Swearing-in ceremony of Gen. Elly Tumwine. “Dully appointed as Minister of Uganda swear in the name of the Almighty God that I will at all times well and truly serve the Republic of Uganda.” Said, Gen. Elly Tumwine – Incoming Minister of Security.
During the ceremony, President Museveni advised the different security agencies in the country to work together in order to curb the rising crime rate and cases of insecurity in the country. “…issues with teamwork. I don’t know why people don’t want to work as teams? When you work as a team, you benefit from the effort of others.” Said, President Yoweri Museveni. Gen. Tumwine’s appointment as Security Minister comes against a backdrop of some recent high profile violent crimes including a spelled of women murders in Wakiso, attacks on Police Station around the country and the recent kidnap and murder of Suzan Magara.
