In this phone video obtained by NTV, detained patron of Boda-Boda 2010 Abdallah Kitatta and 12 others are seen appearing before the UPDF Unit Disciplinary Court at the Chieftaincy of Military Headquarters in Mbuya Kampala. The 13 appeared in a Court session chaired by the Court’s Col. Tom Kabuye who referred the case to the General Court Martial due to lack of jurisdiction to handle capital offenses. Kitatta and 12 others faced 5 charges including possession of firearms and failure to protect war materials. The Court remanded Kitatta and his colleagues to Kigo Prison, it was not clear when they would return to Court.
Earlier in the day, the army blocked journalists, family and friends of Kitatta and his co-accused from accessing the Unit Disciplinary Court premises. Kitatta’s sister protested. “...member if they have any cases, let them be taken to Court and let justice prevail. If really they have been murdering people like it is alleged, let the members of the aggrieved families get justice.” Said, Hamidah Nassimbwa – Kitatta’s Sister. Kitatta and other members of the notorious Boda-Boda 2010 were arrested in January by the operatives of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence who were investigating the murder of the Hospital Accountant Francis Ekalunga.
