Sumayah Ninsiima a resident of Masanyalaze Zone Lubaga Division says she does not know the whereabouts of her husband following his arrest last weekend. Kitatta was arrested by the Chief Tense of Military Intelligence at the offices of Boda-Boda 2010 in Wakaliga Natete. Ninsiima also learned of his arrest from media reports. The Judiciary’s Senior Communications Officer Solomon Muyita confirmed to NBS receipt of application from Sumayah Ninsiima who is said to be Kitatta’s wife. Muyita said the case will be allocated a Judge next week. “We’ve had a Judges Conference since Monday, it is closing today and all the responsible Judicial Judges in that Court are attending the Judges Conference. So that file will probably be before the Registrar on Monday because tomorrow is a public holiday and the Courts do not work on public holidays.” Said, Solomon Muyita – Senior Communications Officer.
Ninsiima says that although the UPDF Deputy Spokesperson Lt. Deo Akiiki claimed that Kitatta and other leaders of the infamous organization were under detention at the Kireka Police Base, this was not found to be true. Police officers at the base denied holding Kitatta referring her to CMI offices in Mbuya. Attempts to get information from the Army on Kitatta’s whereabouts have not been successful. The wife contends that Kitatta has been held incommunicable and has never been produced in any Court of law neither have any charges been slapped against him.
She now wants Court to compel Gen. Kale Kayihura the Inspector General of Police and General David Muhoozi the UPDF Commander through a habeas corpus to produce Abdallah Kitatta before Courts of law. Ninsiima has also sued the Attorney General in his capacity as the government’s top Legal Officer.
