Barely a week when UPDF reported that ADF rebels had re-activated their cells, a grenade was unearthed by Police in the busy Kisenyi Bus Terminal. “Everyone is encouraged to take extra caution. Us the UPDF, we will continue on top of working closely with the Police, will continue securing our borders especially in areas where there are threats.” One suspect was intercepted and three alleged accomplices arrested after the Police got a tip of Military equipment including a hand grenade on a passenger luggage. “Yes it is true we’ve recovered a hand grenade, we are still establishing facts about it where it came from but of course we arrested some suspects and they are in our custody and we are still interviewing them and we are still getting more facts about the grenade and we shall be having more details time to come. There are some who are believed to be on the run and we are also tracing them. But we don’t know how it has come from, we don’t know how these people got it but we shall get to the bottom of this situation by the end of the day.”
The key suspect fled the scene only for Police to remain with three alleged accomplices. “As you can see the line is still long, people are still coming as you can see.” At Global Bus Terminal in Old Kampala, long queues characterized the terminal and some passengers told NBS that their efforts to travel back to the village begun at 5 am but by midday, there was little hope. “Actually am not feeling very well because we stood for almost 5 hours we are here standing waiting for the buses. So we are not feeling good, we are tired actually.”
A large number of people and the fewer buses has spouted the bus owners to increase the fares the travelers have deemed unfair. “We have increased transport fares to Mbarara from 15,000 to 30,000 specifically for this festive season because as we come back to Kampala we drive empty buses.” The situation was no different from the other bus terminals in Kampala.
