27 Arrested Over UNEB Examination Leak

Following the senior four exams leakage last week, 27 people were arrested. “It involved the connivance of the Area Supervisor and a Scout who had been posted to oversee the conduct of the examination. The Scout was arrested yesterday morning and I had an opportunity to interface with him and he confessed that yes, he had been paid 1 million shillings. And having received the money, he surrendered the keys which he was supposed to protect to the fraudsters.” Said, Dan Odongo – Executive Secretary, UNEB. “It’s a network and we believe that at the end of the day we will have arrested even more people who were involved in spreading these different examinations on different platforms.” Said, Polly Namaye – Police Deputy Spokesperson.

Odongo spoke out on reports that the leakage was an inside job. “The investigations thus far do not link UNEB Printing Press or any staff of UNEB in this.” Said the Executive Secretary UNEB. This came as over 640,000 pupils prepared to start their two-day Primary Leaving Examinations. “This is the third year running when we are registering more girls taking the PLE Examination than the boys.” Said the Executive Secretary UNEB.

The Police beefed up the security provided for the transportation of the exam papers to their various destinations across the country. “The teams that are escorting the exams have already started. We started last night and we have taken different routes.” Said the Police Deputy Spokesperson. The candidates started with Math in the morning and Social Studies in the afternoon, the Science and English were scheduled for Friday.
