Ivan Ngobi also popularly known as Vegas was found burnt in a house belonging to a woman identified as Christine Nabukenya. The house had been left under Ngobi’s care after Nabukenya left the country for work abroad. “I came here and found the house locked. As I was leaving, the boy called me and brought me back here to see what happened.” Ngobi’s bed and other property in the bedroom were burnt to ashes. The neighbors were surprised he never shouted for help. “I last saw him on Saturday at the main road and he was very fine.” Ngobi’s father was upset that nobody had attempted to rescue his son from the flames. “We would have provided medical care to him because we are financially capable of doing so but my son died of too much pain.”
Neighbors said Ngobi had earlier fought with his colleague Humphrey Kagimu. “They fought and he cautioned him not to alert anyone.” “I am hurt that someone got to know he was burnt and decided to keep silent about it.” Humphrey Kagimu was arrested by the Police for further investigations. The Police in-charge of Mpala Police Station Joseph Ssekitoleko took the body for a Postmortem and urged residents to embrace the neighborhood watch program to avoid similar tragedies in the future. “Let us not politicize the neighborhood watch program which we started. It is for our own benefit.” Said the OC Mpala Police Station, Joseph Ssekitoleko.
