Children from Winter Land Primary School were left in fear on Tuesday this week after they witnessed violence scenes as they were traveling to perform at the Third Annual Community Policing Day. “We had some Policemen inside the bus then one of them got out to cool them down but they beat him very badly. I was really scared. We weren’t beaten but the man told us that if you don’t get out, we shall burn you in.” The Police came out to clarify that unlike the rumors going around, no child was hurt but one crime preventer was badly injured in the process. “He was assaulted badly and he is in hospital. He is a crime preventer from Kanyanya and was assaulted by people who were welding a lot of power and talking irresponsibly. Now those are on camera even but the good thing the officer In-charge Natete also came to cool down the tempers and he calmly handled the situation.” Kayima said they launched a thorough investigation and this will not be handled likely. “We can guarantee that whoever had a hand in this will be asked to account for their actions or their inner-actions.” Kayima also denied any connections between the Police and the Leader of Boda-boda 2010 Abdul Kitata saying that it was time for the public to stand up and fight for their rights and not to be intimidated. “It doesn’t matter whether we know him or we don’t know him. What matters most is what I do; if it’s in conformity with the law if it is not, it is our duty to call you to order. So for those who still say this and have issues with him or any other; the law guides us very well on everything to do. Take a step, make a report, keep your reference, and ask the Police to depository these people.” Said, Emilian Kayima – Police Spokesperson.
