Police Launches Hunt For Killers Of Two Police Officers And Civilian In Kalerwe

The incident occurred at around 9:30 pm last evening when the suspected robbers shot and killed two Police officers and a company driver. Detectives have revealed that the attackers were trailing the novel cashiers who were collecting money from different sell points in Natete, Mutundwe, Kasubi, Bwaise, Nabweru, and Lugoba. They trailed them at Kalerwe where the attempted robbery and murders happened. “Why we are making our lines of inquiry, this was robbery we believe it was internally collaborated; somebody must have been trailing these cashiers who were picking money from point to another and they knew by this time they would have huge sums of money.” Said, Frank Mwesigwa – Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander.

According to an eyewitness, the attackers were riding motorcycles and after killing the Police officers they fled with the guns. “The attackers had four motorcycles and four guns.” “They shot in the air to scare away people.” Security Minister Henry Tumukunde rushed to the scene of the crime. “Already we are in the field pursuing whoever is behind it.” There were fears that the spread of murders had been fueled by prefiltration of arms. Many guns continue to be licensed without due diligence of reports. “We believe, yes; they might be organized groups that are carrying out such things but we believe that the power that packs together is the Police and you, we believe we can get to the top of this situation so nothing should worry you.” Said, Luke Owoyesigyire – Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson. This was the second attack on the Police in less than 24 hours after Lukuli Police Post attack was raided on Saturday morning and a Police officer was arched. .
