Yunus Kamoga, Five Others Given Long Sentences

Some of the Muslim suspects that had been on remand appeared before the Court included Abdul Hamid Sematimba, Rashid Jingo, Sekito Twaha, Musa Mubiru among others. But all these Muslim suspects were returned to Luzira because they had not fully completed their bail documents with due diligence and yet some were to be returned to the Court on the following day to answer charges on other cases. However, some of them were returned to the Court but they had been released and driven away from the High Court in vehicles of their lawyers.

Relatives of the suspects released were seen in jubilation. Female relatives in-particular who decided to walk from the High Court in Kampala to the Nakasero mosque were waiving at people along the road thanking the Almighty Allah for the release of their suspected relatives. As soon as they reached the mosque, all of them first performed prayer and the moment of sharing love followed with relatives and friends hugging those they had been missing with some seen wiping tears of joy.

Those that were released by the Court were given time to speak to the congregation of Muslims. “We thank you and Allah for having enabled us to have a life in the Luzira prison. We ask you to pray for our brothers that are still in the prison.” “Apart from Sheikh Kamoga and the other five Muslim suspects, in Luzira there are other Muslim prisoners who are more-less similar to us with no crime or offense and they are more than 100.” “We also pray to the Almighty Allah to pardon us, we are still in need for our brothers. So let us pray for them in this trying moment, that may He the Almighty protect them.” But most of the Muslims speaking to the congregation broke into tears as they felt terrified with this moment.
