The deceased, a 20-year old Rashidah Nassuna had been renting a house with four other female friends on seta road in Luwero town. It is said that early morning on Monday she suddenly fell sick and blood oozed from her mouth and nose and she died a few hours later. “Her death was so mysterious, she was bleeding heavily and we don’t know what she actually ate.” Her three housemates were also taken ill admitted at Bishop Acili Hospital in Luwero town in critical condition. “Because they were staying four in the house and these others are all now sick, they are down in a critical condition they can’t explain but those who were with them in the evening say; they were all fine, they went to bed when they were very fine.”

Neighbors suspected it was a case of food poisoning but their employer Godfrey Nsimbi said many others had taken the same meal the four ate at work and none of them had been taken ill. “At first we thought that she was poisoned which is not the case. The team is also going to look at placing preventive measures to make sure that in case it is a dangerous disease, yes we ‘ve not identified this but to put in place measures that will avert further spread of the infection.” Said, Vivian Nakalika – PRO Ministry of Health.
