After the warm-up, the participants were flagged at Hotel Africana the start point. Led by the chief walker Joe Kigozi, they matched from Hotel African connecting to Namuwongo via Jinja road, back to Jinja road through parliamentary avenue back to Hotel Africana. During the match, some gathered in cliques, others in solo exploits, but the proceeding was a fun and greet affair, but with a purpose to save lives. “It was very exciting and the message was clear; we need to play a role as young people, am a young person am still a youth myself so I speak to all youths across the country across the world to play their part, to make the right decisions to be part of events likes like this so it was an exciting walk.” Said, Joe Kigozi – PRO, NBS Television.
Participants received the motive well. “We have enjoyed the walk because it has been promoting the focus of HIV & AIDS which is something the youths should be aware of.” “The match was good because it is full of the youth and this is the generation which all of us are fighting for to see that they have a better future. Nevertheless, adults also should behave in the way that in the upbringing of the youths is really good and articulate to the current standards.” “I enjoyed the walk and I learned to be confident because there is a member that talked about herself and her status, she really changed my life.” Said, Rehema Hassan – Youth Walker.
Youths were urged to be mindful of the causes and effects of HIV&AIDS. “It is a very important day on the calendar of young people. I believe that there is still a lot of information the young people need to know about AIDS, there’s still need to be a lot of awareness about the sexuality of the young people but also the AIDS catch; it is key that every young people out there have knowledge about HIV.” A 24-year-old lady was awarded for her confidence in admission to being HIV positive
