Skin Care

The skin must be taken care of the same way we pay attention to other organs in our body, like the heart, liver or kidney. One must adopt a healthy lifestyle in-order to have a great skin. this involves eating healthy, sleeping for at least 8 hours, keeping hydrated by drinking lots of water among others.
Majority of the people don’t care for their skins and only remember to visit the dermatologist when skin breaks out.

Most people with amazing skin will tell you that they have made it a habit to drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water daily, include fruits and vegetables in their diet, and get enough sleep. However, we can agree that genes do play a major role in determining one’s skin type. There will always be that person who smears ordinary Vaseline, eats junk, goes to bed wearing makeup but still has the most amazing skin, and then there is the one who has an array of products, cleanses, tones and moisturizes religiously, visits a dermatologist regularly but has a terrible skin.

Dermatologists and beauticians have classified skin types as Normal, Oily, Dry, and mixed (one with a mixture of oily and dry skin). One needs to get their skin tested in-order to find out what their skin type is. Once the skin type has been identified, the skin specialist will then be able to recommend the type of products one should use.

When it comes to the skin products available on the market, it can be a daunting task choosing what works for you. With the rise in cancer cases, there is a section of people advocating for the use of natural products as opposed to the chemically processed ones we find on the shelves of our pharmacies, supermarkets and beauty shops. This is a personal choice one needs to make whether to use natural products or chemically processed products.

Pimples, acne and scaring are some of the skin problems that have bothered people for generations and cosmetic industries have earned lots of money by advertising products with the promise of a flawless beautiful skin.

Skin Specialists advice that on top of a healthy lifestyle, one must cleanse, tone and moisturize daily morning and night. Cleansing is meant to clean the skin, remove all dirt that may have accumulated in one’s skin.

Skin specialists also advice one to scrub their skin at least once a week. this is aimed at getting rid of the dead skin and the use of facial masks is encouraged too!
The skin in most cases reflects what is on the inside! Poor diet, stress and hygiene are reflected on the skin.

However, we must appreciate the role of our make up artists today, they are able to turn a frog like skin into a flawless skin with the stroke of a brush. My advice therefore is that in extreme cases, where one must appear flawless, do not hesitate to hire a make up artist to do the needful for you.
